What if I've not applied for anything yet?
Don’t worry, it’s not too late! Take a look at all our A Level courses and apply online.
I've applied but not had an interview - what happens now?
Don't worry we continue to hold interviews over the summer. Please contact our Admissions Team on 01226 216 106 or email interviews@barnsley.ac.uk for further information.
I've applied and got an offer - what happens next?
Look out for your enrolment invitation, this will be sent via email at the beginning of August.
Remember to tell us if you change your address, email address or telephone number by contacting our Admissions Team on 01226 216 106 or email interviews@barnsley.ac.uk.
When will I enrol and what happens?
We will send you details via email, of how to enrol at the beginning of August. Enrolment starts week commencing Monday 17 August 2026 to Friday 28 August 2026.
You will meet the tutor and discuss the course/career plans*
*Please bring your GCSE results slip or a copy of your qualifications (where applicable).
You will log into your OnTrack account and check your details and accept the enrolment.
You will need access to your personal email account to be able to access your OnTrack account.
We will take your photograph and issue you with your student ID card.
You will be given details about your induction and when to start.
How can I prepare for enrolment?
Check your enrolment email for the date and time.
Before you enrol check that you have done the following:
- Logged into your personal OnTrack account, checked your details and made any amendments.
- Added all your GCSE subject grades and uploaded your evidence to the Ontrack portal.
- You will need access to your personal email to be able to complete your enrolment.
When and where do I go to enrol?
Report to the Sixth Form reception. Visit our Sixth Form campus page to familiarise yourself with the campus.
If you are unable to attend at the time specified don’t worry you can come along to another enrolment session, however, you may have to wait longer and places for popular subjects may be limited.

What should I bring with me?
- Your GCSE results slip (school leavers only).
- Any relevant certificates you have.
- Details of two emergency contacts, i.e. parent/carer and their telephone number and email address.
- Any other documents listed in your email.
Enrolment is in three easy steps:
Step 1 – See a tutor and discuss your course, career aspirations and check your qualification results. Enrol to your chosen subjects, the tutor will tell you when your course starts and explain your timetable.
Step 2 – You will be asked to log on to your OnTrack account to confirm your enrolment, you can do this on your own mobile phone or a computer will be provided.
Step 3 – Have your photograph taken and get your student ID card.

What happens if I don't get the right grades?
Don’t panic! We will discuss all options on an individual basis and support you in making the right choices.

If you decide that A Levels is not the right option, we have staff available to discuss other study programmes within the College including T Levels, Vocational and Apprenticeship routes.

Can I change my A Level subject choices?
If you want to change your subject choices at enrolment, you will need to discuss this with a tutor.
What if I’ve changed my mind and want to study a different course?
We understand that your future plans may change and you might still not be sure on what career path to take. Don’t worry we encourage applicants to keep a few options open.

Can I change my A Level subject choices?
Year 12 induction day is Friday 28 August 2026, 9.00am - 3.00pm.
The new term starts Tuesday 1 September 2026. Your tutor will provide all the details about your induction and timetable when you enrol.

Get ready for Sixth Form!
To find out more about your A Level subject choices, please read through the ‘Get ready for A Level….’ booklets available to download on the Get ready for Sixth Form page. There you will find lots of useful information including reading lists and activities to prepare you for A Level study. We are really looking forward to meeting you at enrolment!
When does the new term start?
The new term starts w/c Tuesday 1 September 2026. Your tutor will provide all the details about your induction and timetable when you enrol.

Is there a College bus service?
We offer four Free College Bus Services. The bus routes are FREE for you if you are a student at Barnsley Sixth Form College. At this time, the buses are running on a “first-come, first-served” basis and students do not need to book a place to access these services. Each route will operate in the morning in order to get you into College before lessons start and a return service will operate from Old Mill Lane campus at the end of the day.

Will I get any financial support?
There are a number of different financial support schemes on offer for students studying at Barnsley Sixth Form College. These can help to cover some travel costs, study programme essentials, and a contribution towards food allowance and childcare support. Please be aware that students are not automatically entitled to funding, an application form and proof of household income should be submitted for assessment.
